Hi all.

Have been setting up my new server, and it's driving me crazy.

I have a Supermicro X11-SSL-CF with onboard SAS3008 controller, flashed to IT-mode and connected to a HP Expander.

Windows Server 2016 reports a Error ID 11, Lsi_sas3: "The driver detected a controller error on \Device\RaidPort1", so windows can't see the attached disks (2 x 2TB samsung and Hitachi and 3x4TB WD Red).

Adapter: LSI3008-IT
Avago Config Utility: v8.29.01.00 (2016.05.20)
MPT Firmware Revision: 12.00.02.00-IT

What's working:
Avago (LSI) BIOS (Product Revision 12.00.) sees the disks, and the expander.
Have briefly installed ESXI (Vsphere) and the console shows all 5 disks in storage manager.

What I've tried:
Booting only with the expander and NO disk connected: results in error
Booting only with the expander and disk connected: results in error
Booting without expander: Does NOT result in error

Updated drivers to newest from microsoft. The drivers available from Supermicro results in an error message: "The Driver is not intended for this platform" with driver

version 2.51.15 from Supermicro.
Have been looking for newer bios, but can't seem to find a newer one than already installed:

I'm confused a don't know what to do next...

Any ideas?
thanks in advance.

Have you tried updating the firmware on the expander?
I do t know which model of HP expander it was (pretty sure 12G) absolutely needed a flash out of the box or else all sorts of nasty problems.
Easy enough to do in a HP server, out of one I am not sure.
