Hi,
I picked up an old IBM/Lenovo disk shelf years ago and never got around to using it - but I am getting into it now and would love some advice.
My unit was purchased as an IBM DS3524 (24 SFF SAS-2 array with a built-in raid controller).
I believe it should be a re-labelled Xyratex unit, which I am hoping also means I could replace the IBM ESMs with two IOM-12 SAS-3 expanders for a NetApp/Sun/etc box (which would turn it into a SAS-3 JBOD).

Does that make sense, or am I wrong about my assumptions? Any other gotchas I should be aware of (other than power use)

Try with the IBM IOM-6 module first; any other is a gamble.
I tried the same with NetApp, and only the Fuji IOM Module works on NetApp, not IBM or DELL.
