I am going to build a rack-mount home server and I am looking for some advice. Specifically, most of what I want to know is related to the rack-mount form factor as it is new to me. I would also like to specify that I am only interested in consumer priced parts. I do not want to pay the enterprise tax on $500 cases, Xeons, etc.
The use case is 24/7 always-on for Plex, VPN, rTorrent, 1 or 2 game servers, and TeamSpeak.
I currently use a Synology DS1813+ for storage, so no provisions for additional storage are necessary. I will probably only use a 256 or 512GB M.2 drive for the system.
I want to go with a 2U rack-mount case that will be installed into a wall-mounted Tripp Lite SRW12U which can only accept equipment up to a depth of 16.5 inches. There is almost exactly 16.5 inches from the mounting rails to the wall on the enclosure, so I need to make sure that I can fit the power plug and Ethernet.
I am looking for recommendations on:
Thank you for your time and I look forward to any input.

I am looking for recommendations on:
- 2U cases (I have room for one 4U but would like to avoid it)
- CPU (looking at AMD Ryzen 1700X - early benchmarks put it on par with i7-6900K)
- CPU Cooling (Do I go passive here? Not sure if the stock cooler will even fit)
- GPU for Initial Setup (Ryzen/X99 has no iGPU, preferably something with DisplayPort)
- Power Supply
Thank you for your time and I look forward to any input.
