anyone know what drive is inside the 28TB model? I just ordered the 24TB version but now I'm reading it's a barracuda and not an exos anymore?

Seems to be par for the course lately--first few that we hear about are exos and then all barracudas. My guess from the price point is barracuda. I bet the guys on /r/datahorder know already...yep, barracuda. But it's not the ordinary barracuda. Apparently they're a HAMR CMR drive:

I really don't like Seagate so much but price is very appealing. Will they last long? I am worried about HAMR.

There is a video here about the hard drive
Notice that when he shows the drive benchmark at minute 12:00 into the video, there is a major drop in performance. This is something I often see on "damaged" hard drives. This may be the defect that made sure the drive was binned barracuda and not exos. This basically means that for any enterprise grade loads, this hard drive will not deliver the expected performance. But for most people, it will be fine.

I will not buy Seagate. Period. Doesn't matter how cheap they are.

The only way companies (and people) realize that they're doing something wrong is when...it hurts their wallet. So, my small contribution to that effort by not buying their wares.

I agree from my personal experience. I realize that others' experiences don't necessarily match mine. I will say that in my recent experience, the enterprise drive experience has improved.
