Seagate Constellation.2 ST91000640SS not supported - help!

Hi all

I have two Seagate Constellation.2 - 2.5" 1Tb SAS drives - which are coming up as not supported on an Adaptec 6805. They give the same error on my IBM M5014 (LSi 9260-8i) The card has the latest firmware build 19204.
Checked the Seagate website and there is no available firmware update for the disks.

According to this document http://download.adaptec.com/pdfs/compatibility_report/microsemi_arc-sas_cr_3-1-17_series6.pdf the drives are compatible with the 64xx and 68xx controllers, so where am I going wrong?

I have no idea what unit the disks were in before - could this be a 520byte formatting issue? I've never dealt with the 512b/520b issue before so have no idea how to check this (and I'm not a linux guy - only dos/windows, all the info I can find on reformatting drives seems to be linux based)

Failing that, can anybody recommend suitable 1Tb SAS/SATA 2.5" drives which will work on IBM 5014/5015 for a RAID0 or RAID5 config

I have these (several of many Constellation.2 models ), they are working fine with 9260. IIRC you can check if they 520b using Hard Disk Sentinel utility. You can try to reformat to 512b even without checking, as posted in this guide:

You might need IT mode controller to use the utility. But If they simply not detected at boot stage, you are out of luck.
