Was looking for the new Western Digital Black^2 and saw that both Amazon and Newegg have the 2TB SSHD version for $99.99 - see here:
Amazon.com: Seagate Desktop 2 TB Solid State Hybrid Drive SATA 6 GB with NCQ 64 MB Cache 3.5 Inch (ST2000DX001): Computers & Accessories
Newegg.com - Seagate Hybrid Drive ST2000DX001 2TB MLC/8GB 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s NCQ 3.5" Desktop SSHD
From what I have heard, the internal caching does a pretty good job on these and it is transparent so no need to have any software running to make these work.
Not sure if they work in something like a QNAP, Drobo, or Thecus. At these prices I might buy one or two for fun but it is hard to spend this much on lower capacity rotating media.
