Hello all, I couldn't find any review so I tought I might ask here

I am building a ZFS (NexentaStor) SAN (RM31616/X9SCM/1230/16GB/M1015@9211-8i/Intel 10GBe CX4 & 520 SSD for caches) for my XenServers and I was thinking about buying 10x 1TB Hard Drive like the Seagate Constellation SAS:

1- Available now - 16MB Cache ST31000424SS - 150MB/s sustained - 347Gb/in2
2- frequently B/O - 64MB Cache ST1000NM0001 - 147MB/s sustained - 324Gb/in2

All the remaining characteristics looks the same (6Gbps SAS - 5th generation Seagate - Warranty?)

Would the difference in cache size be noticeable?

Now if I could decide between mirrors, z1 or z2 ....

Mmmm... your P/N is ST1000NM0021 and not really available here in Canada

I can backorder the ST1000NM0001 from my suppliers @ 165$ each or get the ST31000424SS in 24 hours for 150$ each.

yep, sorry. The 00"21" drive has encryption

If you can, see if you might be able to get the serial #'s of the 424SS drives. If they were manufactured before Dec 31, 2011 they'll likely have a 5yr warranty.

The NM0001's (since they're newer) might only have a 3yr warranty
