Are the screws for a 2.5” drive smaller than a 3.5” drive? I need some screws for a 2.5” ssd, any recommendations?

I have a few 2.5" devices (ssds & hdds) and not all use the same thread... Intel optanes use "bigger" screws than the hgst ssds & hdds :/

It depends on mounting point. If on caddies, there are almost as many screw types as there are major manufacturers, and the main thing is not the thread as such, which mostly is the smaller M3 but the head of the screw, where some caddies need the heads to be very flat and others have more space, simply put.
For example: I was not able to use the same screws between SuperMicro and Huawei caddies.

The drives I have are Intel ssd dc s3700 400gb. It’s being installed in an Intel nuc NUC5i3RYH.

M3-0.5 is actually a very common size. Home Depot has them, but they'll cost like $0.50 each. Pennies each on AliExpress. A little more on Amazon. Could also order online from Grainger and pick up to save on shipping. My apologies if none of these options are relevant to your location.
