What about hba? I need both hba/raid aio card like the LSI 9211-i8. But read that IR Mode is garbage and for one, sas2008 has no cache.

9211 can still pass through drives in IR mode. And cache is more of an issue for parity raid. IR mode works fine if you're using it for RAID1, at least it has for me.

What are you using this for?

1) RAID 1+0 should be fine on IR firmware.
2) Yes, 9211-8i supports drives greater than 2TB

Hardware raid will most likely out perform LSI's IR firmware, but it might be good enough for your purposes, otherwise you'll need to look at more expensive options for hardware RAID which most likely won't support HBA functionality. If you want both in a single card, you're going to have to compromise.

Others might have some suggestions on HBA/RAID cards.

For my situation, four 3TB in raid 1+0 with 4 misc hdd's on this card, should I use IR or IT mode?

For modern hard drives, the supported capacity boundary is around 2.15TB.

You only need to consider compatibility problem if it exceeds 2.2TB.
