Sandy Bridge/ Cougar Point Bug

Just as a heads-up, there is an issue with the four 3.0gbps ports on the Sandy Bridge based chip sets.

I think that impacts my decision regarding what to do from a SSD perspective for the new workstation build.

Yea i bought a P8P67 last night for a desktop build and I cant even install Windows on any of my HDDs. Will be going to MC tonight to return it.

Not sure what to do now tho? I sold my Xeons and now i have a 2600k that i cant return. WTF?

Which ports were you using? I was able to install no problem on the P8H67-M EVO using the 6.0gbps ports.

It is making me re-think my strategy on the P8P67 Pro build.

I have tried both the Intel 3gbps and 6gpbs. The Marvel may work..but that doesnt fly for me.

I get a failure from the win 7 installer saying that i cant partition the Disk.
At first i though my Vertex was giving out, but it does the same on reg. HDDs too.

Just got back from MC and exchanged my P8P67. I am going to just install to the marvel chipset on a reg HDD and see if I can get my ssd going then try to install on it.

Interesting. One of the things I wanted to do was try the Marvell Hybrid SSD / HD setup. My build got delayed by a marathon of meetings today... Oh and the fact that I had a motherboard article ready to go for tomorrow that I needed to move up Thursday's article to.

Oh well, interesting day at least. I had a few review pieces lined up but certain manufacturers are not releasing boards due to the bugs so it was a different kind of day.
