Hi,

I have been running ESX1 5.1 with OpenIndiana 151a7 using Mellanox MHQH29C (ConnextX-2) QDR cards to connect with SRP and backing up with using Veeam v7 on Windows 2008 R2 with SRP for direct SAN. It has been working great.

But, as I look to upgrade to ESXi 6.0 and Windows 2012 R2, I was wondering what others are doing.

The Nutanix guys were saying that they're in the process of using local storage on each system as a sort of distributed SAN/NAS for clustered systems.

On my system I've service bound iSCSI to one port for SAN-like behavior and connected that to my Hyper-V host, with Samba to the other NIC for general NAS duties.
