Hello everyone. So I've been looking at this SUPERMICRO X10SRM-F board for a build when to my disappointment I noticed that its onboard M.2 slot is actually only a PCI Express 2.0 x4 slot (Not 3.0) and I would like to fit a PCI E 3.0 x4 SM951 card in there. Does anyone have any idea what the results of this would be performance wise or tested this out before?

I know that putting an PCI E x4 M.2 card into an x2 slot effectively halfs bandwidth and gives you terrible results but this dilemma is sort of different. I would imagine the SM951 would autonegociate a pci express 2.0 speed but i dont know if/how that would effect performance. This SSD tops out at 2150MB sequential anyway. and an x4 PCI E 2.0 tops out at 2000MB
