I got an answer on 31.12. with the information that FedEx will be used.
I did a short calculation and asked if she can verify it (15 x 150$ + Taxes + 220€ shipping to my homeaddress).

This would be a little bit too much for the shipping part, but I have no comparison.

I unfortunately didn't get any answer, yet.

It depends on the size really.

We on our DHL account had a quote for 20 Intel ssds 4lbs @ 9x6x4" for around 60 euro + some customs fees. VAT of course applies etc. So a bit pricey. Of course if the package is bigger then it costs more due to weightdimensions.

It indeed seems a bit steep - is that express?;)
But should shipitto not also offer DHL ? They tend to be cheaper from what I have seen

Yeah express. This is the pricing we got from intraship (dh portal). It might differ if actual size is different (obviouslsly).

We have highly discounted rates but it also depends on carriers. On some destinations the price can be higher and on some lower. Also fedex can have better pricing to soem locations and dhl to others.

I calculated the same shipment to Germany (we import to Poland only) and got a quote for 400 Euro :) So my discounts are only for Poland.

I would assume US to DE should be cheaper then US to PL.

Anyways goodluck.

Well I assume it would be cheapest to let you import to Poland and send it over then :p

Not sure it makes sense as then we would need to send it to DE or elsewhere. Last I checked we did not have all too hot rates for EU. Would have to check. If it would be sending 1 to 1 then I can help otherwise it really makes more sense for you to but directly.

More so that VAT in PL is a high 23%.

Ah high VAT is counterproductive, I agree.
We will have to see what other cheap shipping options we can come up with then:)

Yeah if it is between companies it does not matter however in such a case penny saved penny earned :) 4% difference makes it 60+ euro just for vat.

We only ship to US address's, so best thing to do would to use a shipto address. Currently we are 1-2 weeks back ordered as the holidays and weather have set us a bit behind. We are currently only doing 10+ orders on drives.

Thank you!

@Hailey T - Yes we were discussing freight costs via ShipItTo to Europe;)
Can you provide us package dimensions/weight for 15 or 20 drives for calculation please? Thanks:)

That would my guess too ($80-$100) but @Markus (first post on this side) mentioned €220 without elaborating so I thought we might get the info needed to evaluate ourselves :)

Shipped 82 x 61 x 25 cm and ca. 30 kg for less than $220 (DHL).
Another package with 47 x 31 x 9 cm and ca. 3.5 kg was $80 (also DHL).

So how big can a box be that holds 15 SSD's even if they are wrapped one by one?

Sorry for the missing information and alos for the little time I can spend on at the moment:
Hailey mailed me that they are shipping with FedEx (15 SSDs) with good packaging in a Large Box (cite: "We ship Fed Ex Express, 15 drives will have to ship in the Large Box. We put each drive in an antistatic bag, and then put them in a 4X7 bubble wrap envelope, then surround the package with good bubble wrap").

So we have to clarify what the costs for FedEx -> Shipto and from Shipto (LargeBox of FedEx) to Germany.

Ah good to know, thanks:)

That would be $130 to Germany with DHL Express (ShipITo).
So lets assume $50 for Inter-US p&p, then we are (also assuming a constant price without further discounts and identical packaging for all of them ) [and ignoring exchange rate & potentially $/€ conversion fees] at:

10 ( $50 +(10x$150 + $130)*1,19) = $1990~= $199/drive
15 ( $50 +(15x$150 + $130)*1,19) = $2882 ~= $192/drive
20 ( $50 +(20x$150 + $130)*1,19) = $3774 ~= $189/drive
25 ( $50 +(25x$150 + $130)*1,19) = $4667~= $187/drive
30 ( $50 +(30x$150 + $130)*1,19) = $5560~= $185/drive

O/c p&p in Europe comes on top.

Does the tax apply on goods AND shipping costs if it's a private transaction?

Yep, if its explicitly mentioned on the invoice.
Might be possible to work around it if you send it to yourself (b/c there is no explicit invoice stating the cost)
