You forgot to mention what price you saw.

Now it's back to $150, which doesn't seem so great.

Nobody can sell these much cheaper than what retailers currently sell them for anyways. What do they do sell at loss?
Possibly some fool who bought the wrong SSDs just drop it a bit below regular price just to get rid of them. But I demand a huge savings over market price before I care about ebay listings. That is just me probably. At least enough to offset the return shipping cost and risk. $15 or even $20 is not enough.
There aren't that big margins on SSDs really. Especially in cost conscious markets which 500GB consumer SSDs are in.

There are occasional good deals on SSDs. I got a new 960 GB Samsung PM853T last November for $238.

Consumer-grade Black Friday deals were similar, but I figured an older model SSD that doesn't lose data on hard shutdowns is preferable. :)

(I haven't actually seen consumer-grade SSDs lose data, but the ZFS folks seem to think they do. In laptops with built-in batteries, hard poweroffs hardly ever happen though.)

I just checked, and I actually did buy a 500 GB Samsung EVO 850 for $129.16 in April. (Newegg's ebay-store sale price)
