Is there any point in waiting for a motherboard that has 2-3 16x slots and 3-5 8x/4x slots for the Ryzen platform or is that unlikely to come any time soon?

So... Thanks to Broadcom/Avago/LSI plx chips now cost $100 Any board that uses them will cost $100+ more than an otherwise similar board. Ryzen only has 24 pcie 3.0 lanes... we need boards with plx chips to compete with the high end x99 boards. Hopefully supermicro makes such a board.

And by compete, the issue here is that the maximum CPU cost is $500 which means that there are fewer people who will drop $400 on a motherboard.

The other issue is that they need PLX chips. No 40 lane PCIe 3.0 chips.

Given the Naples info released today, I'm surprised that AMD hasn't announced a mid-range setup. Something like 64 lanes with 8+ cores would be killer for lower end servers and high end workstations. IMO, boxes that need expansion capabilities.

The uses I have for workstations are almost too much for Ryzen, while Naples is overkill. Yeah, yeah, the computing version of Goldilocks right here... :)
