Recently, I have bought one HP Proliant DL385 G7 complete drawer after failed attempt to build up HP 585 G7 from available assemblies. (that's a long story, to make it short, it's cheaper to buy a brand new released desktop and run non-critical startup than buying and old piece of crap Gen7 for the higher price a new desktop and also pay crazy shipping cost - 161$ to Ukraine, but despite that I gave a shot to this idea).
So far DL385 is good (as minimum I do not have to crawl on ebay trying to find the missing pieces).
According to official Dl385 documentation link it is not possible to run Interlagos CPU-s on old (583981-001) board. Excerpt:

I have successfully installed AMD Opteron 6220 as CPU1 and AMD Opteron 6238 as CPU2 and they works, though 6220 and 6238 are clearly Interlagos ones not Magny-Cours ones.
Why does it work?
Probably the answer is that "well, they can work together but in less productivity mode, so this tandem can not reveal full potential of 12 cores of 6238".
This hypothesis is also confirmed by that fact that both 6220 and 6238 are identified by the system as 8-core CPUs. At least, for 6238 it is not true, because it's clearly 12-core.
Is this something that I reliably count on, so I can buy fewer old 583981-001 and run interlagos on them? Is it okay to try AMD Opteron 6272 and AMD Opteron 6276 as well on the old MB without risk of burn MB socket or CPU itself?
I have another question, but as it's too close to this question so I try to ask it as well: better run the same processors of it's possible to mix up different frequencies' or different core numbers' CPU-s?
