Yes. I'm running Unleashed, SmartZone, ZoneDirector and Ruckus One APs all on the same subnet. Can I run vSZ with some APs and Unleashed with others?
Thanks
Presently running 4 R600s on Unleashed that I'm hoping to slowly migrate to WiFi 6 APsYes. I'm running Unleashed, SmartZone, ZoneDirector and Ruckus One APs all on the same subnet.
You can directly connect new APs to your PC to install either Unleashed or Solo firmware then attach them to your main network and accept into the controller you want (since, of course, you'll have automatic AP acceptance turned off in your controllers).
But if you're going to the trouble of managing a SmartZone controller then you should just run everything on SmartZone, once you get comfortable with it.
You can use my firmware lookup tool to work out which SmartZone version to install. If some of your APs are "legacy" for your preferred version of SmartZone then either (a) after installing SmartZone you'll need to install the AP patch for a zone version which supports the legacy APs, or (b) you can install an earlier version which has all your APs as current & then upgrade to your preferred version. If you give me your list of AP models then I can make a recommendation.
Cool. I'd probably install 5.2.2. You can then upgrade to 6.1.2 either right away or later, if you get APs which need it. I'd personally just stick with 5.2.2 until I needed something newer.Presently running 4 R600s on Unleashed that I'm hoping to slowly migrate to WiFi 6 APs

I've installed 5.1.2.0.302 but will upgrade to 5.2.2.Cool. I'd probably install 5.2.2. You can then upgrade to 6.1.2 either right away or later, if you get APs which need it. I'd personally just stick with 5.2.2 until I needed something newer.
Installing 5.2.2 first will ensure your default zone works with R600 APs, so you won't have to immediately figure out complications like AP registration rules.
5.2.2 looks similar to Unleashed so you should be able to get the APs joined and add a WiFi network without too much (any?) reading of documentation.
The only gotcha you might encounter is that your R600 APs might have expired certificates, so you'll probably end up disabling AP cert check.
The install videos are pretty helpful for your initial setup. The KVM one is closest to Proxmox, so it should get you up and running.
(I personally like having a 5.1.2 zone available because I picked up a bunch of almost-free R700s, & having a 5.1.2 zone lets me use these remotely with split tunneling).I've installed 5.1.2.0.302 but will upgrade to 5.2.2.
Oh definitely you're re-setting-up from scratch. The different Ruckus controllers know nothing about each other.I will leave it at 5.1.2, then.
Will the AP configs be picked up from Unleashed or should I write them down to re-apply manually?
Just a note, when you do upgrade....I will leave it at 5.1.2, then.
I'm trying to flash Ruckus stock firmware in u-boot. Now I'm able to download the firmware to memory via tftp but don't know the correct commands for writing to flash or booting the firmware. Can you give me a little more detailed instructions?if you really want to, yes you can lay down new firmware in u-boot. I don't know if the u-boot build for the R710 has prebuilt routine/commands for laying down new firmware, if it doesn't you'll have to do the manual method of tftp'ing the firmware sections into memory and copy them to the right areas of flash. it could also potentially be easier to get into u-boot and temporarily tftp-boot a firmware image, once it's up and running, log in and use the firmware update page to "properly" flash new firmware
they also store two images, you could try just booting the backup partition, maybe it's in better shape. it's probably like "bootlcl rcks_wlan.bkup" in u-boot if I remember right.
if you can't send text/enter u-boot, you probably just have you serial connection wired wrong. should be this:

Also make sure your UART adapter is set to 3.3v, 115200-8-N-1
The signal strengths are the same as in earlier releasesHas anyone else notices more reporting of "poor" and "moderate" signal strengths in 200.16?
I just upgraded both my R650's from 200.14.6.1.203 to 200.16.7.0.402 and suddenly I am seeing a some red warnings for "poor" and indications of "moderate" signal strengths I hadn't seen before.

The thing is, I can't remember what it looked like before, and I cant justify rolling back right now to check...
Is it a matter of:
1.) Signal strengths just weren't reported like this before?
2.) They changed the colors, and that made me notice?
3.) They changed the categories (dB or however it is measured) regarding what is considered "poor" and "moderate".
--OR--
..am I actually seeing less signal strength now than I was?
I guess there is something said for screen-shotting everything before an upgrade just for comparison purposes
I appreciate any input.
New Access Point (AP) in 200.17.7.0.139new unleashed, 200.17 (200.17.7.0.139) showed up as avail on my R750, trying it out, as usual it's not anywhere on their site yet so no clue what's changed
There's a bunch of unannounced security remediation. Every security loophole I was aware of is closed in 200.17. I guess their inclusion in the quad7 botnet helped them to prioritize this.new unleashed, 200.17 (200.17.7.0.139) showed up as avail on my R750, trying it out, as usual it's not anywhere on their site yet so no clue what's changed
I imagine the "don't upgrade a R750 that thinks it is a R850 past 200.14" holds true still?new unleashed, 200.17 (200.17.7.0.139) showed up as avail on my R750, trying it out, as usual it's not anywhere on their site yet so no clue what's changed
One of my r720 didn't reboot properly after the update, I had to power cycle the ap multiple times and after the third time it came online with a completely different ip address... Currently lookingi nto that and what else changed.Version 200.15.6.212.20 has also been released, just installed on my 510 and 710s.
