I guess these Flex io 10Gbe cards are basically vaporware at this point

This is an M.2 E-key adapter that slots into the WiFi card slot, and should work. It's based on the RTL8127, which is the latest gen chip from Realtek. The older RTL8126 works in this machine, when using an M.2 A+E key card, and I'm able to get basically the full 5Gbps throughput. The chip does get hot though so a heatsink might be a good idea.
