Review Request: HP Flex IO 10Gbit module

I guess these Flex io 10Gbe cards are basically vaporware at this point

I did come across this, but I haven't picked it up because shipping and tariffs to the US are going to be a nightmare, anyone in the EU want to give this a try and report back? M20E M.2 10GbE – Auvidea

This is an M.2 E-key adapter that slots into the WiFi card slot, and should work. It's based on the RTL8127, which is the latest gen chip from Realtek. The older RTL8126 works in this machine, when using an M.2 A+E key card, and I'm able to get basically the full 5Gbps throughput. The chip does get hot though so a heatsink might be a good idea.

I couldn't run the official 10Gb card because 5k video output needs a DP adapter in the same slot. And anyhow, short supply means eBay sellers want $infinity for them.

I was running a super-hacky RTL8127 PCIe setup until now, but on Monday the AliExpress Realtek m.2 cards were down to $70 including taxes and delivery. Card arrived today, fits my existing 3d printed mount, and it's SFP+ so I also got rid of an annoying (and hot) 10GBASE-T module at my switch. Only useful if you don't want to install both NVME SSDs.
