Hello,

I have a servber with two of Supermicro PWS-1K41P-1R power supplies. They are loud af so there is no way the machine can stay on our office (i replaced all the server fans with noctuas, so the only loud thing is the PSU)

I purchased Noctua fans with PWM support and correct size + voltage and let a local service replace the original fans with the plan to make it silent as the load on the 1400W power supply never goes abowe 2-300W. They found out the pinout and the fans spin, but the power supply will end up in some kinf of error, blinking orange and disabling itself, so I am afraid this mod will not work.

What I found online, there are other lineups of power supplies that are silent (like SQ) comparing to this one, but I also found out there are differences and sometimes users purchase silents version that does not fit.

I found noone replacing the exact model I have, so I I want to kindy ask, with what silnet PSU from supermicro I should replace PWS-1K41P-1R with? I found the PWS-1K41P-SQ as nearly all of the model numbers are the same,. but not sure if its gonna work.

I attach photo of the mod, so there is something to laugh at or help to make it work :).

noctua fans are lazy sometimes with reporting their speed at startup. couple of seconds enough to trigger the error

if you just need 2-300W you may consider PWS-501P-1R's. I used these instead when 920-SQ's were still around 100US$. Mine were even quieter than the SQ's and cost ~20US$ at the time.
