Reflashing NetApp SSDs?

Hello everyone!

I recently got a few Samsung PM1733 MZ-WLJ1T90 Gen4 x4 SSDs. They also have a NetApp X4010A 2x2 Gen3 sticker on it. From what I could find online these have some custom firmware on them and using it in a "regular" server would limit speeds to Gen3 x2. Is this true? I can't test them yet as I'm waiting for parts. Is it possible to flash OEM Samsung firmware on these so it becomes a regular SSD?

What you have is a dual ported drive. The drive has two controllers onboard, each hooked to 2 lanes. It's not something that you can change with firmware.

Official PM1733 documentation says that it can run in 4x mode or dual 2x mode depending if a pin is shorted or not.
