Hey all,

I just figured out a solution to this today and thought I would share.

I have a 9305-24i in a supermicro case, running OmniOS r151052 via ESXi (and PCI passthrough).

I have been trying to find a way for a few days how to read the temperature off of the card, trying to figure out if the card is overtemping and causing some issues.

After a fair bit of digging around online I've found that LSIUtil and some scripting will get this going for me. I found the magic here: old.reddit.com/r/homelab/comments/cqvxeb/monitoring_the_status_of_a_92118i_hba_in_itmode/kj5mgg4/

You can grab versions of LSIUtil from here: GitHub - thomaslovell/LSIUtil: Archive of the LSIUtil RAID controller software binaries and source. (there are solaris binaries as well as source trees in there).
You can grab documentation for LSIUtil from here: https://www.thomas-krenn.com/de/wikiDE/images/4/44/Lsi_userguide_2006_20130528.pdf

For my system, the LSI Card is shows as the 2nd LSI device by LSIUtil so I'm running this every minute and sending it to a file:

date "+%F %T $(( 16#$( lsiutil -p2 -a 25,2,0,0 | grep IOCTemperature: | cut -dx -f2 ) ))"

I hope this helps anyone else out who might have been trying to get temperatures from their LSI cards!

nice! I was thinking about sending my data into grafana as well -- how did you set that up?
Write a python script that uses Gauge from a Prometheus client library and exposes it via http using tornado or the likes.

Then setup Prometheus to poll this endpoint and point Grafana to Prom instance.

Takes 5mins

Thank you for LSIUtil!
