Hello guys,

I am playing with C6100 24 bay unit. Is there RAID card that will actually fit inside each nod so I can get RAID 10 - with 6 drives ?

Best option would be that RAID controller have 6-8 sas/sata ports + cache (256 MB) + battery - it's also MUST 6 Gb/s (so we can run SSD's as well)

Example: Sun Adaptecraid 5805 2244100 R SATA SAS 8 Internal Ports w 256MB with BBU | eBay

The biggest problem is will it be compatible with C6100 cause of limited space and compatibility in general.

Price is not a issue, I am just looking now for everything that was tested and working.

Thank you on help!

If your mezz card slot free? Dell's LSI2008-based daughter card ought to meet your requirements - well, all but the cache/battery part but for Raid 1 that's slightly less important.

Dell part # XX2X2

Thank you on info, yes mezz card slot is free. I need RAID 10 (not 1 or 0) - so I need cache / battery (just for extra stability). Do you have any card that can fit that needs?

Thank you on time!

You have several of good options:

1) Software RAID
2) Dell LSISAS2008 Mezzanine card
3) IBM M1015
4) LSI 9211-8i
Software RAID is no go. Other 3 options - I cant find any card that have battery + cache - am I missing something or there is no raid card that can have all that ?

Please let me know, cause I am hit walls anywhere I go on this subject.

Thank you

I don't think that there is cache or battery backup available for the SAS2008 based cards.

If you absolutely need cache and battery backup capability look at the SAS2108 based cards, such as the LSI 9260-8i or the IBM M5014/M5015. I have run a C6100 node with an M5014 with BBU with a 0.5m Monoprice SFF-8087 to SATA cable to connect to the interposer SATA ports. Works great !

Thank you

as far as my provider have measured The LSI 9260 and hence ibm 5014/15 are too big to fit into the c6100
