Is the E5-2618L V4 cpu compatible with a Poweredge R630? I recently acquired two E5-2618L V4's processors and if I put either in, the system refuses to power up with a 2.6.1 BIOS (latest). System works fine with other E5-2600 series V4 processors.

Seems weird that it wouldn't work- any ideas?

Did you mean 2.9.1 ? That is what I saw on Dell's support site for the R630.
If the system works with other E5-26## v4 CPUs, sounds like you got bad processor(s).
Are the E5-2618Ls OEM or samples???

Does dell have the same as HPE quickspecs ? I can’t find the detailed config for the R630 and I assume it lists specific CPU ?

Generally I would have thought it’s not going to exceed any power requirements so should be fine.

The r630 can power up to 165W and these are 75w.

I tried one in my r730 as well, same deal.

I get an voltage error message on CPU PG in iDRAC. There's definitely something fishy here.

Maybe the ‘L’s need a different current on different voltage or tighter tolerances ? Could be out of spec for the server, low power means usually more sensitive to requirements.

That's possible. I wish I had a supermicro board to test them before I send them back.
