In the Broadcom FASTPATH software (like on the Dell 8024x) it is "show fiber-ports optical-transceiver <interfacename>", like this:
Code:
switch2#show fiber-ports optical-transceiver

Temp - Internally measured transceiver temperatures.
Voltage - Internally measured supply voltage.
Current - Measured TX bias current.
Output Power - Measured optical output power relative to 1mW.
Input Power - Measured optical power received relative to 1mW.
 TX Fault - Transmitter fault.
 LOS - Loss of signal.
Of course, your optics need to support Digital Optical Monitoring (DOM) for this to show anything.

Hello all,

I know I'm definitely late to the party, but I'm new to this switch and am having trouble with devices on vlans not being able to ping the switch, each other, or anything beyond the switch (like the gateway). I'm sure I'm missing something, but I can't seem to find a solution in the thread (but, again, I'm new to this). Here's my config if that helps.

Hello!
I have LB6M for aroundt 2 or 3 years.
Now, I'm facing with an problem, that I tried everything that I know, and can't found solution.
I'm an ISP in Brazil, and before I was using LB6M only to connect Servers to my Storages, but last week I needed to use it to connect to a link with an Internet Exchange(IX) point in Brazil with us.
IX is like an big switch on any ISP can connect to exchange traffic.
When I setup this link on an LB6M 10Gb port, I receive around 2000 Mac Address from others participants, and LB6M start to be very slow and losing a lot of ping packets (I keep pinging management IP address).
SSH connection start to be very slow too.

I'm using fastpath 1.2.0.18, i tried to downgrade (to test only) to 1.0.0.17 with no effect.

Sorry for my poor english, but I hope anyone can give me some idea of what I can do, or if this is a firmware problem.

Thanks a lot!

to those who have problems with vlan configuration, could recomend to try logic from configuring Mikrotik CRS1xx series - vlan negotiation, tagging, translation and else. It helped me a lot.

fastpath on these was a demo build, you can try crossflashing to brocade

I have 2 dell powerconnect switches (7048r and 8024f), trying to do a PSU fan swap on these, and was successful, however the health status of the one PSU I did a swap for so far continues to cycle back and forth between normal and error, I suspect this is probably due to the RPM range of the fan (Noctua A4-10 FLX 3 pin 12v), would that be accurate? The log shows the constant change between 'operation' and 'error' status but isn't more specific than that. The fans are confirmed to be spinning.

Anyone found a 10mm or 15mm fan that serves as a quieter replacement that doesn't permanently show fault and spam logs? If not I might just try an inline resistor.

So I ended up swapping PSU fans with model AFB0412LB, these are basically the same fan but with a lower acoustic profile, pretty much half of the original fans. They are 18db.

Per the spec sheets of the original vs the replacements:

original: https://www.mouser.com/datasheet/2/632/AFB0412VHB-TP29(REV00)-539839.pdf

replacement: https://www.delta-fan.com/Download/Spec/AFB0412LB-F00.pdf

They are both rotor-lock, yet the switch still continuously cycles between a healthy and failed state. Surely someone has figured out the issue here?

Does this ultimately matter? Probably not. Does it trigger my OCD? 1000%

I keep trying to tell people this, but you can't just interchange fans based on dimensions and voltage.

AFB0412LB is a 2-wire fan for a fixed 12V application. It has no speed sensor and no supported way to vary the speed. AFB0412LB-F00 is a 3-wire fan for a fixed 12V application. It has a tachometer to report fan speed via open collector output and no supported way to vary the speed. AFB0412LB-R00 is a 3-wire fan for a fixed 12V application. It has a locked-rotor open collector output to report if the fan stops turning. It has no way to measure fan speed other than rotating / not rotating and no supported way to vary the speed. All are 5000 RPM fans.

There are a huge number of control / monitoring options. Here is a list from Nidec showing their thirty most common configuration options. As you read that document, you should note that you can't tell what option(s) a fan has just by the color of the wires.
So I'm trying to figure out then what main culprit here is. You seem knowledgeable enough to determine what a fan would need. My understanding is the fan in the PSU originally is also a locked-rotor. Neither monitor speeds, it's just one spins at 5k RPM and the other at 9.5K. Perhaps the firmware monitors expected rotation and if it's either off or full speed it reports a failure?

*Actually seems like I did answer my question, yes, it's because the fans don't spin fast enough, and also, it looks like the only way around this is by using some kind of 555 IC to fake the fan speed.

As I understand it and generally speaking, the amount of noise a fan makes is directly proportional to the amount of air it is moving. Question is, is it moving more air (and thus making more noise) than is necessary to cool the switch. It's entirely possible that it is. I recently tackled this problem with a Quanta server. It was way beyond the point of being tolerable and in addition to the noise it had a wah wah wah pitch that was driving me absolutely insane. I was contemplating replacing the 4 dual 80mm fans with quieter fans when I ran across the ipmi commands to slow the fans down somewhere on the board. I slowed them down to the lowest speed and now I can't hear it at all except in the server room and even then it's more than tolerable. and what about temps? No problem, they increased a small amount but not enough to matter. Turned an insufferable box into a useful server. Don't know if there's a software solution to the noise problem with the LB6m but if there is it sure would be nice. I have one and only use it when I absolutely need the speed.

This is true, but fans also differ in noise level even when pushing the same CFM. Bearings and blade design make a difference, and certainly a couple big 200mm fans on top of the switch can push a lot of air at very low RPMs compared to the stock 40mm screamers. But I agree that software fan control, a la ipmitool for servers, is definitely the easiest way to quiet a 1U down.

Is there a way to revert to automatic fan speed control on a Brocade-flashed LB6M (after you've manually set a fan-speed)? I've consulted the "Brokeaid" guide, Brocade's TurboIron 24X docs and, of course, le Google, but I'm not finding the relevant commands. I can change/set the 3 fan speed thresholds, but can't figure out how to make the switch utilize them to control the fan speed automatically.

Hello,

Need help :)
I have 2 Quanta LB6M with FastPath firmware and a Juniper Ex4200.

I have set a vlan 31 and make a trunk port on Quanta but nothing pass to Ex4200..
I notice that the default vlan is 1 for quanta and 0 for Juniper, is it the issue ?

The Trunk on Quanta:

interface 0/19
vlan participation include 31
vlan tagging 1,31
exit

The Vlan port on Quanta :

interface 0/27
vlan pvid 31
vlan participation exclude 1
vlan participation include 31
exit

I really need help, i'am stucked since 1 week and really need this switch to work with Juniper :/
Thanks for yor help
