I would be very surprised if changing the fans could reduce power consumption by 50%, not gonna happen.
I typically run mine on one psu and it does make a difference, but not a lot. Only a few watts.

Yes the thing sucks power but to get a lower consuming 24 10GBit switch you are going to pay much more. My logic is that the price difference between the lb6m and a lower power alternative would have to "pay back" in a couple of years. At the moment I haven't found a switch that will do that, not with 24 ports.
Hey dude. I have next to NO info/knowledge on networking (just generally knowledgeable ... own a computer repair biz for 10 years.) ... anyway, I assumed it was a power consumption thing that made those switches screen bloody murder. AND, Assumed that much like CPUs, maybe there'd be something akin to, if not identical, in that their lithography got smaller and the impedance was lessened, and then they'd run cooler doing the same load.

BUT, that that'd be the EXACT "upgrade" ... virtually EXCLUSIVELY, they'd offer as "the new and improved widget to make you part with your 10+ K $$ ....

And that it's not that 25G and SFP28 are so expensive; it's that they're being manufactured on a new and improved tic or tock ... and so until THESE get displaced by some new iteration ... these'll be enterprise-expensive.

Anything you can critique in that set of assumptions?

PS -- does anyone know of a GUI Firmware ROM (unless those are different things in this context) for the LB6M ?

Thanks yall !!

Good day wise ones :)
Got my switch hooked up last night, or is that a small get engine? (My HP J4904A is louder when it boots but quiets down a lot better).
Trying to be patient reading this thread and am at page 16 and have not come across my issue.

Its running, IP address assigned, telnet working fine but I cannot enable SSH??

(FASTPATH Routing) #ip ssh server enable
SSH could not be enabled. Make sure RSA and DSA keys are present on switch.

running 1.2.0.18 no backup (?) Anyone have directions on generating the keys? I'm thinking I'm going to have to enable the linux root login on port 2323... hoping for an easier ride though :)

Thanks for any suggestions!

nvm - under config there is a crypto command to create the keys...now to see why I can't log in.

Hi, I researched a lot here in the forum, I have a LB6M with firmware Quanta LB6M, 1.2.0.18
Operating System .. Linux 2.6.21.7
Network Processing .... BCM56820_B0
Additional Packages. FASTPATH QOS
FASTPATH Routing

What firmware can I install? I already have SSH access. I will have to use a console cable.

Hey Folks, I've been running the LB6M for close to a year now. Recently, it's been failing to boot with the following errors. Any ideas? It seems pretty low-level.

lm6m1.PNG lm6m2.PNG SO I know this Discussion is 4 years old and hope I can get feed back on what I need. So I've played with 10gbe peer to peer and decided to get a LB6M switch from UNIXPLUS. And thanks for the $50.00 discounted price with the code. I try to do my research before I buy some thing. I've previewed the manual on UNIXPLUS website for the LB6M (Quanta LB6M 24-Port 10GbE SFP+ 4x 1GbE L2/L3 Switch)

So here are some of my questions.

1. Is LB6M a CLI only or is there a GUI like shown on page 51 and 52 on the manual

2. The switch pulls a IP address from the router. should I not be able to access the above GUI from the network?
I 'm not at a point where I want to convert it.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks Tim

Greeting everyone.. resurrecting an old thread as it's still relevant today. Nikol, it does not use switchport like a CISCO. you add your vlans to the interface and set their tagging.

vlan participation include 2-6,66
vlan tagging 2-6,66

All, I need some help on the routing side of the LB6M. I have my vlans, with IPs and are routing.. The problem is, traffic between vlans is stuck around 7Mpbs instead of the full 10Gbps. I am using jumbo frames and they are set on the switch and the servers (mtu 9216). Is this switch supposed to be able to route L3 effectivelly? is there a setting I'm missing for the "cross-vlan" traffic?

Hey all, anyone knows if the switch supports IGMP snooping ? Everything seems to work except this, i get flooded, even after i type the command set igmp

I need to enable it on all ports, my wifi is going nuts
With my cisco sg500x no issues

Thanks

Hi guys, I've just bought myself Delta 7024, however I'm having issue with setting up the switch. By right, after you plug in the copper ** RJ45 10gbps to 10gbps, it should have link right? Apparently, mine isn't working at all. Nothing is plugged into the SFP+ slot at all. Btw I didn't change/switch into dell firmware is because of the SFP+ transceivers... many mentioned only accept DELL. Can anyone advise?

Thanks!
