Hello everyone. I am newby here and I checked out this forum and this is by far the most informative source I have found for the Quanta LB4M switches. I'm hoping to find some answers.

So, I am trying restore the switch back to it old default settings because a buddy of mine it to me so I need to wipe the old configs and put on new ones specifically for my home lab. I consoled into the switch and I came this is menu:

Boot Menu Version: 28 Apr 2008

Calculating CRC of active image...done...
Select an option. If no selection in 2 seconds then
operational code will start.

1 - Start operational code.
2 - Start Boot Menu.
Select (1, 2):2

Options available
1 - Start operational code
2 - Change baud rate
3 - Retrieve event log using XMODEM
4 - Load new operational code using XMODEM
5 - Load configuration using XMODEM
6 - Display operational code vital product data
7 - Update boot code
8 - Delete operational code
9 - Reset the system
10 - Restore configuration to factory defaults (delete config files)
11 - Activate Backup Image
12 - Run Diagnostics Image
13 - Load new Diagnostics Image using XMODEM
[Boot Menu]

I'm guessing option 10 is what I need? Option 9 just simply reboots the switch. Correct? I tried this last night and it did not seem to work. Any suggestions on what I am doing wrong?

Also in addition when setting the static ip address. It appears the command is:

network parms 192.168.X.X 255.255.255.0 192.168.Y.Y.

I'm assuming that the first ip (192.168.X.X) is the static ip address you choose for the switch and the 2nd ip (192.168.Y.Y.) is the ip address of the router connected to the switch (the gateway address)?

Lastly, I noticed that when reading some of the forums that the serviceport ip has to be on a different network than the static ip address (set above). If I want to remote connect into the switch using the putty command line, would I use the static ip address or the serviceport ip? Or is the serviceport ip only for the web gui interface?

Thank you in advance for any help provided.

I've got one of these, currently it's disassembled for a fan upgrade, and it's been a while...

I hate to give you a "maybe" answer, but I think restore to factory will do what you want it to. If you can, you may want to backup current config if you can.

I think the service port is for incoming management connections, and the static is for accessing stuff on your network like DNS, NTP, and such. IIRC the static also listens for mgmt inbound traffic... There was also something strange about the default gateway on the serviceport vs. the static. I think I ended up keeping the serviceport L2 only with no gateway, and set the default gateway only on the static.

These switches can also do L3, and a few years back I messed with the firmware to get the L3 capability that still has the web gui. It is really handy having the gui.

If it wasn't in pieces I'd log into it to jog my memory for you.
