I received mine today. Seller accepted $230 which seemed like a decent deal for 24 SFF bays with 10GbE SFP+ and rails. They have 90+ units, so they might go lower.

The included raid card is only 6Gb/s, but the backplane and expander are 12Gb/s capable. There are two bays in the back for 2.5" SATA drives.

Other specs:
2 x 1200W Platium PSUs
Dual 10GbE is Intel 82599ES

I assume the included raid card is a mezzanine?
No, it is a LSI 9271-8i (full height bracket) with a separate battery card (full height bracket). The mezz slot for the SAS 3008 card is empty, but you'll need one with the bracket included.

Yeah this seller doesn't like to post photos...even if it was 100$ I wouldn't buy, no idea what condition the chassis are in. I'd be tempted to get one for a small DB server, but without photos, no go. Can you post some images of the one you got?

Thanks!

Have any pictures you can share by chance?

Yeah, I'll take some pictures tomorrow when I have better light. The unit looks pristine. If there wasn't some thermal paste left on the heatsinks I would've thought it was unused.

@SPCRich,

If you want pictures you could ask rhinotechnology to update their listing https://www.ebay.com/itm/303517152077
I can't tell what kind of relationship these sellers have but they frequently list the same items at the same price shipped from the same address. I have ordered from both without any issues.

@semidetached, can you let us know about how loud the server is when you get a chance? Also power consumption if possible, but thats probably something I can lookup.
Fairly loud with the current BIOS. I have the 1U version and I remember updating the BIOS helped slightly so I'll see if that changes anything. But there are 4 counter-rotating fans, so it will always have that annoying whine and the 1U didn't have any knobs available to control the fan response.

Sitting idle at the Proxmox installer screen with 2 x E5-2630v3 and 4 x 16GB, it was pulling 82W from the wall.

Does it come with 12Gb expander backplane or is it similar to supermicro A type backplane ?

How memory picky is this server ?? Just curious if it will work with any random ddr4 reg module.

Where does the SAS3008 mez card install? Does it connect to the onboard SFF8643 ports in the middle of the motherboard?
When looking at the server from the front, it mounts with a bracket on top of the right-side PCIe riser. In the Mobo_2 picture you can see the card edge connector at the top of the riser.

Those two SFF8643 connectors are for optional NVMe drives.
