Is there a difference in physical form between QSFP+ connectors and QSFP connector ? Will a QSFP+ cable be able to be connected to a QSFP port, and will a QSFP cable be able to be connected to a QSFP+ port ?

There is a difference between sfp (1Gbqs) and sfp+ (10Gbqs), but no difference between qsfp or qsfp+ (they both refer to the 40G modules).

QSFP+ evolved as the standard to support 10Gb/s data rates per SFF-8436. QSFP products support quarter small form-factor pluggable with the different data rate comparing with QSFP+, so there is no change in the product solution. Since QSFP+ can provide higher bandwidth, it is likely that it will eventally replace QSFP as this package standard. Gradually, QSFP becomes obsolete.

new to qsfp, researching to stack 4 icx 6610 (40gbe ports).
i notice there are 40gbe qsfp(+) and 4x10gbe qsfp(+) (not the breakout), are these one and the same, just labeled differently or same type of cable but different personalities?

I can confirm these Netapp 112-00177 cables work fine in DAC mode between two HP 544 FLR Nics (Mellanox ConnectX-3 Pro) installed in HP Proliants G9 and G10 servers

Nics forced in Ethernet mode via ,
mlxconfig -d mt4103_pci_cr0 set LINK_TYPE_P1=2
mlxconfig -d mt4103_pci_cr0 set LINK_TYPE_P2=2
mlxconfig -d mt4103_pci_cr0 set PHY_TYPE_P1=2
mlxconfig -d mt4103_pci_cr0 set PHY_TYPE_P2=2

and sync at 40 Gbps in Windows without any particular tweaking
