My Freenas box's controller crapped itself so I figure I should probably have a better backup plan. Picked up one of these, seemed like a good price with 10G SFP+.

can those even saturate a 1gbit eth? (or 2x 1gbit?) not being sarcastic, but really am asking if anyone has experience (and w which raid type pls).

There are a few main site posts about qnap devices (Search Results for Query: qnap | ServeTheHome and ServeThe.Biz Forums) and they were fast enough to saturate 1gbe links with raid 1/5/0 in most use cases.

That unit looks pretty good.
I think its the first entry level 10G unit you can find. Most current releases will cost you at least double that to get into the 10G NAS game.
