Does anyone have the 1400W gold power supply in the 846/847 chassis?

Are these loud or OK? I know this isn't the SQ ones but I have the 700watt version if this 1R one and it's not too bad since all my other case fans are louder.

I've found that the chassis fans on those cases (especially the 847) are louder than the PSUs. I didn't find the SQ models to be all that necessary and even ran a server in a 846 chassis in my bedroom, but that's all very subjective.

That's good to know, I just didn't know if these are like those "screamers" people were complaining about, the 1200w gold ones. I assume these are like my 700 which aren't that much more louder than the 920 SQ I have in the SC836.

I replaced the internal fans in my 847 and subsequently shut it down due to the racket from the PWS-1K41P-1R's. I have not attempted any firmware updates, but I can tell you that the 1K41P-1R uses exactly the same fan as the Gnodal GS7200 (which I find to be 100% intolerable). I believe they are somewhere in the 68-69dB range (each fan) and most of the noise is occurring on the high end of the frequency spectrum which tends to travel/reflect well and permeate walls.

Per @T_Minus 's recommendation, I ordered a set of 920-sq's "or best offer" from Ebay for the 847 this morning. I actually have a set of the 920SQ's in a remotely located 7048R-TR and didn't find them to be quiet at all... Now having read up on user experiences/measurements, however, I believe there may be some other underlying issue going on there which is causing that particular set of 920SQ PSU fans to run full tilt 100% of the time.

I have 3 920SQs and 2 501P-1R. They are quiet enough that I can barely hear them running even 1 foot away. @AJXCR There must be something else that is causing your PSU to run the fan at full speed all the time.
