I figured I would add this here and people could add as they play with it. Some fairly big changes in theProxmox VE 4.0 update including:
  • Based on Debian Jessie (custom off of Ubuntu from what I understand)
  • New HA manager - more modernized (no need for clunky fencing)
  • LXC containers instead of OpenVZ
  • IPv6 support

Bummer #1: No ceph in the beta yet!
PVE 4.0 beta - unable to install ceph - found out the hard way.

I have the first machine running the beta, but may bring it back to 3.4.upload_2015-7-12_14-51-11.png

Not good if they're making ceph integral in 3.4 then it doesn't work in the next beta. You can even see the tab on the UI in your SS.

It's been many, many years since I've used this. Help me understand: if I were to run the free version with no support contract, does that mean I get no patches?
No you just use the public repo. There is a thread on getting started with proxmox here if you search for something like "proxmox repo started" you should find it.
