for a freenas build, it will be used for VMs and Hyper-V and serve as home NAS.
system spec:
dual e5-2620 v2
128GB RAM
disk: 6 x 3tb toshiba (will have more)

question for zil and L2ARC:
zil: should i have zil or not? if yes, PCIE based ssd or slc ssd? For ssd, can I use hardware based RAID, eg LSI 9361?
L2ARC: 4 x samsung 840 pro? or don't need it since I have enough RAM?

Seems like an extremely high-end FreeNAS build. You could easily use one of the E5-2609 processors and less RAM.

Or did I read that wrong and you are going to have a virtualization platform where one VM is FreeNAS?

you didn't read it wrong. it is just a freenas box. So e5-2609 just work?
What about the SLOG and L2ARC?

For your uses, a Haswell Celeron is more than adequate, as is 8-16GB RAM. Your proposed system would spend 99.99999% of it's time totally idle and burning unnecessary power.

Unless you like wasting money, of course...
