I have seen quite a few threads relating to these drives. But I don't see the firmware files and tools to upgrade the firmware for them. I have 13 3.8TB drives but not all of them are listed below. I annotated the the drives that are reading/writing at only 50MB/s and the ones that are faster at 800+MB/s. It seems that firmware version "NA03" works better with my setup. I'm trying to see if this "NA03" firmware can be written to the other drives or if any other firmwares are available for PM1633 for me to test out for better compatibility?

Have you tried reaching out to samsung? Enterprise side of things typically fast.

Last week I called them and it routed me to consumer support that was no help. They told me to fill out a form on their site to contact their enterprise support. A week later, no answer. I just tried again and we will see I have better luck.

hmm, since those are oem disks, they may tell you to F off. You may have to find exact system they were on - its likely the upgrade/downgrade tooling will be available on their sites. (might be really hard - as those tools may check if its running on that system in first place - or hidden as part of total system firmware, as below)

maybe you can dump the firmware from those that are good, and flash it to those that aren't.

I found this post a few days ago. I put this file in "/mnt/zfs/temp" cd'd to the directory and excited "sg_write_buffer -m dmc_offs_save -I FMDELMZILS3T8HCJMCQPJ_NS /dev/sg14". Nothing happened. I presume that the new firmware is "CQPJ" but smartctl -i /dev/sg14 shows no change from before and after. I rebooted the server and also added ".bin" to the file name with no luck.

FMDELMZILS3T8HCJMCQPJ_NS has no file extension. So does that mean it's a folder that needs to be extracted. I apologize if this is obvious but I've never done any of this. That post, very conveniently had the exact command I deeded down to the drive number. The same command was reported successful to update the drive but not for me.

I looked at the file with a hex-editor and it seems that this is the firmware file itself. Always check at least the header and fly over it, to see if it's not garbage. Some infos at the start, then follows the encrypted-sign-part and after this the fw-code follows.
It has a lot of free space after the "meat", but it should work. But remember that i never updated an SAS-SSD...

This 32k hours bug is unforgivable; think about the resources wasted, the hundreds of thousand drives in the trash with 1a hardware...

Unfortunately, no. Unraid released an update that fixed the issue. In other words, I didn't need the updated firmware. I'm fairly sure that it was a kernel issue. The closest I got to updating the drives was with the nautilus tool. Let me know if you want it.
