i was somewhat tempted to pick this up "for fun" since it looks like a nice piece of hardware even if il never use more than 8 ports on it.

But that "310W typical power (without pluggable optics)" hurts more than the price itself

Pulled the trigger and picked up 4 of them. We are in need of a few more 100g /40g for our spine after looking into these they should hopefully do a good task allowing more 40/100g uplinks to our TOR switches.

So we got our switches in, the bios identifies as a AS7716 V14 20161026. Build Date and Time 10/26/2016 11:00:48

There is new bios out as well, which is version: 40 .Howver, you can not go from 14 to 40. We are getting support on how to do so.

The Netvisor os is 2.6.2 and to go to the latest, first you need to upgrade to 3.11

The switch is identical to the
Edgecore Networks AS7716-32X
Interesting ours arrived today however, we will not get to them until Monday most likely.
Hopefully they can be updated easy enough.
Did you have to reach out to them for the files?

Gawt Dam look at those specs:

  • 32 x QSFP28 switch ports, each supporting 1 x 100 GbE or 1 x 40 GBE, or via breakout cables, 2 x 50 GbE or 4 x 25 GbE or 4 x 10 GbE.
  • Layer 2 or Layer 3 forwarding of 6.4 Tbps (full duplex).
  • Hot-swappable, load-sharing, redundant AC or -48V DC or 12V DC PSUs.
  • 5+1 redundant, hot-swappable fan modules.

Actually I reached out to edgecore. Because their completely identical. Edge ore is providing us with bios updates and a onie upgrade as well . I’ll keep you guys posted after we get everything
For free?
That would be pretty sweet... other companies in this business i reached out to previously where rather... reluctant to help. Although to be fair I wanted NOS' from them, not basic blocks. But bios is nice already:)

That will be great. We have the bios files, the instructions, and the clpd files that are needed as well.
let me know if you want web space on the deesh site as well - I take it still no actual OS you or anyone can provide to actually use these things? (outside of thousands of dollars of licenses for the distros you listed above)
