They don't work with VTd due to a marvell chipset bug. So if you're using VTd in esxi, avoid these... even if you're just using as a datastore drive, and passing through something else.

Yes but if you are on a 1150 setup it wouldn't matter terribly much... as they only get 2 pcie 2.0 lanes anyways.
I have a little 128GB m6e on my 2011-3 setup and its nice but I want more... However I am waiting till Samsung releases the faster m.2 ultra drive to the market... The one that makes the xp941 look slow.
