Took me over a year to finally get a plex pass offer, That said they have a lot more cool features now that require the pass.

Which nvidia card do you recommand for hardware transcoding (in a vm server passthrough) that take only a 1 PCiE slot ?

It depends on how many trancodes you need. You can go with Quadro p400 / p600 / P2000 etc.

RTX4000, it's a killer machine ^^ too costly for me...

I'm going more onto p400 (relatively cheap) and will not having more than 3 transcodes at a time
I juste have no experience in GPU Passthrough for plex.

I think i will give a try to a P400

P400 (~$80) and P2000 (~$220) are awesome single slot cards :)
Look into the patch that unlocks unlimited transcode streams - keylase/nvidia-patch

The patches arent needed for the P2000.
I'm personally looking at the quadro m2000 it can do h265 transcoding and doesnt require the patch either but gets similar performance as the P2000 for about $135.

You're probably already aware but you want the GM206 version and not the older GM107 that can't do H265 :/
It might be a bit of a crap shoot getting them off Ebay

Pretty sure it can do H265 just only in 4:2:0 (8 and 10 bit) not 4:4:4.
That said I'm probably gonna wait till ampere comes out anyway and see what they have to offer.

I don't own one, and I'm just going off the charts...

Exactly so am I, the M2000 (desktop model) supports the H265 4:2:0 ~ doesnt matter if its ebay if its the PCIE card not the mobile it'll be the GM206 chip.

Ahh, I missed the M or D versions :)

Have you read about any quality differences with Pascal vs Maxwell?
I know people love the turing cards for their supposed quality improvements.
I've got a 1650 Super right now, but I'm switching it out for a P400 so I can save a slot
