Hi Everyone,
STH recently published a walk through of [PhoenixNAP](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUmLnSEVVDw) (bare-metal cloud). This opened my eyes to a more cost effective solution. The cost savings that bare metal offers over something like AWS is substantial if you have the right tools [reference](https://www.chuck-stack.org/ls/blog-incus-netbird-phoenixnap.html#cost-comparison).
Tools:
- Incus - open source Linux container virtualization
- Netbird - open source network vpn overlay
- PhoenixNAP - bare metal cloud service provider
I took quite a bit of time to [create this tutorial](https://www.chuck-stack.org/ls/blog-incus-netbird-phoenixnap.html) to use open source tools (Incus and Netbird) to quickly and easily turn a bare-metal server into something that is better (in my case) than AWS EC2.
This tutorial is best used by small to medium business with multiple offices and remote workers.
I would like your help reviewing its accuracy and clarity. For example, do you believe the AWS instances are comparable? Is there anything else that you believe represents a good or confusing point?
I am not sponsored by any of these tools. I just wanted to share something that took many hours to test, refine, and document.
I hope this help! Let me know if you have any questions, comments or concerns. Thank you for your time and consideration!
Chuck
