Reducing networking equipment and moving my management network to a VLAN, and have a couple questions.

pfsense configuration of vlan seems straight forward
- create vlan (name, id, priority)
- assign to LAN interface (interface assignments)
- dhcp/static assignments
- couple firewall rules to allow me to access said vlan

Beyond that I can configure my switch to tag specific ports with vlan IDs.

However.

I noticed I could tag the management interface within IPMI with a VLAN ID.

Is there a reason to do it in both places or once vs. another in this scenario?

If you failover to a shared NIC for IPMI VLAN tag is useful
THANKS!!!!!!Ah ok, I try to avoid failover/shared at all cost and keep the management int. dedicated to management but vlan tagging at that level I can see how that would be handy if done like that.

Now to find out what's going on and why my VLANs aren't working... the virtual interfaces/ip is online but that's the end. :) Might be another thread coming, I have a feeling it's a switch config error someplaec.
