Saw a few things on ebay this morning:
1. 2U Pentium G620 server, currently 0 bids, no reserve $55. Not a really fancy setup, but for $55, would not make a bad box. Could probably add $40 of RAM and have it be a decent, low power, PXE booting machine.
2. IBM M5014 seem to be $130 shipped right now. Another seller (I think a member here) has PCI brackets for $9 shipped. So for $140, correct me if I am wrong, that's a 256MB cache LSI 2108 based controller. Looks like 10 or so more available.

Less exciting (more like my watch list)
3. Supermicro 743i-R760B for a bit too much. Currently one open box, allegedly unused, unit for about 10% under normal retail price (including shipping.) Guessing this one will go lower.
4. Not super great, but I saw Beach Audio has the LSI 9207-8i for $279 shipped. Looks like an ebay picture mistake. Add in ebay bucks (about $5.50) and that is about 10% lower than Newegg on the non-kit version.
5. IBM M5015 for $395 OBO shipped.

nice. IBM M5014 has same RoC as Areca 1880, but needs M5000 key for Raid6, wonder how inexpensively that can be had for.

I got the M5000 key for NZ$40 (~US$32)
The Advanced feature key it's bigger name is plastered all over Ebay, although finding a bargain like I did is harder to find.

BTW it also works on the M1015 to add RAID5 (like the M1000 key)

You could see if you can grab a M1000 key and see if it works on the M5014, it may just do so.

Having a peek at Ebay, these keys even the M1000's are more expensive than the actual controllers.
I got mine about a year ago, they weren't this much then.

I think mobilenvidia got the best ever deal on the advanced feature key. Currently $186.75 ($183 after ebay bucks) from what is out there. Still, $325 for the controller plus key. Not great but not bad. Plus, if you could use the 256MB as read cache, that would not be bad even as a $140 controller.

I got the key here in NZ on Trademe, also got my M1015 from there for NZ$40 :D
These are now going for $100 as people over here are also catching on to their usefulness
Some real bargains to be had, but endless searching to do so.

My M5015 was US$190 ($220 delivered) of Ebay with BBU, another bargain looking at today's prices.

$140 for the M5014 is not bad though
