nitrobass24 is exactly right. Hyper-V allows volumes and disks to be passed through. This actually makes quite a bit of sense since Windows really relies upon hardware RAID instead of software RAID. Furthermore, Hyper-V is great for Windows based VMs but not as good for Linux, FreeBSD, or Solaris based VMs. As a result, there are fewer cases where one would want or need to pass a controller through to the VM instead of passing through the disk or volume.
