Not as great a deal as I've ever seen ($160 x 2 was the best I ever got them)...But given the times, it seems worthwhile.

I haven't tried OBO but would definitely recommend if your thinking of getting some. Pretty sure these can be had for less than $200.

Seems decent for write endurance (10K PBW) and $/GB
2600 read / 1700MB/s write
10 PBW PETAbytes! :)
25W active / 4W idle

Can't find a P3605 datasheet on ARK. Is P3605 is OEM?
P3600 ARK: Product Specifications
P3600 datasheet: https://www.intel.com/content/dam/s...600_Series_PCIe_Product_Specification-004.pdf

For comparison:

Sabrent TLC PCI-E 4.0 x4 NVMe on a 4 slot PCI-E adapter card (+$50)

500GB $90 x 3 = $270 + $50 adapter = $320
5000 read / 2500 write
850 TBW
6.2W read/4.6W write

1TB $160 x 2 = $320 + $50 adapter = $370
5000 read / 4400 write
1800 TBW
6.1W read/5.9W write

Consumer drives win vs last gen enterprise in terms of performance (sequential and write IOPS, read IOPS is a toss up) and power.
Write endurance is a completely different story.

Hopefully a few more years for consumer tech to reach parity with the enterprise drives ;)

I would recommend you to inform yourself. There are pices about it on this forum, by microsoft and many more explaining the diferences.

I've bought hundreds of these, they're great.

Use a static wrist strap when handling them. I've had a decent number fail during handling before taking this precaution, unlike normal SSDs which are less sensitive, this has exposed electronics.

Absolutely! Research is always good :)

I prefer bench marking my unique workload to decide on suitable tech for my needs.

I assume it’s not possible to boot from these. Can anyone confirm?
You might be thinking about Fusion-IO drive that requires OS to be functional. Those cannot be boot drive.

The P3605 uses NVME protocol and the UEFI/BIOS of most motherboards after 2015 has NVME module to boot from. Practically the compatibility of NVME module that a certain manufacturer use may vary. For example, the NVME module on my old Gigabyte board can boot from P3600 / Optane 900P but not from PM1725 / Optane 800P. The ASUS module generally has better compatibility. With UEFI firmware, you can implement new module by yourself, though.
