As a boot/os device for the pc that you or your significant other use on a daily basis. (For me it makes windows + my daily tools feel "snappier" :D)
Exactly, once you go optane on a daily \ workstation IMO it's impossible to go back :D

I've gone from 280GB 900 to 400 905 and my next build I was going with 960gb but went with a 400GB P5800x for that lil boost :D :D

What I'm bummed out on missing out on more of is those 58 and 118gb we got for cheap over the last 15 months that are all sold out now :(

Yea, I managed to scoop up one of them. It's doing duty in my media server.

Yeah the 118gb modules were selling for like 60 a pop, nowadays it's more than double, you can still find the 280gb PCIe version for an okayish price second hand but that's really it :/ I'm hoping Newegg happens to find an old stock of the 118GB modules somewhere like how they keep magically finding more 905p drives to sell but it's probably unlikely. It's so sad that Intel / Micron stopped the 3dxpoint stuff, the drives are amazing for loading large code bases and not requiring everything to be cached in RAM to feel snappy, also hard to believe we have seen no real competition on the latency front since Optane, maybe in the future though!

Wow it seems like they finally went out of stock! o_O Now I regret not picking up another one LOL.
Not just out of stock on their eBay storefront... take look at their current regular price! I'm just glad I got 4 for sorely needed VM storage on my X11SDDV-8C-TP8F based systems. Hopefully this'll keep me going until newer more powerful low power stuff gets cheaper.

This listing? Zero seller rating, only a few items sold, shipping from China. I wouldn't. On the other hand maybe they stumbled on some stock over there. $87 US might be worth the gamble.
Any chance ebay wouldn't refund me if I take the chance and they send me a brick or don't send anything at all?

Why waste your time? They would... but it's clearly fake.

Seller has ZERO feedback

Clearly a scam.

All eBay sellers start with zero feedback so that doesn't concern me but the seller being in China does.

This definitely looks like a scam.
Signs:
  • 0 feedback.
  • Item quantities getting adjusted frequently to add more as they become "out of stock"
  • More than 40 days for shipping
  • Other items being sold are completely unrelated.
  • Price too good to be true.
  • China
Individually these don't all mean it's a scam, but combined, at least to me, they all indicate a scam.

The way this work is that they will usually use a fake shipping company to generate a fake tracking number.
This tracking number will then simulate going through customs, flights, etc. At some point it will get stuck with no updates and no delivery.

You WILL get your money back, but only if you remember to submit your claim AFTER those more than 40 days and then you'll have to wait several more days while the scammer uses delay tactics.
I don't think it's worth spending your time and risking not getting your money back if for some reason you forget to submit your claim on time.

Totally missed the 40 days on shipping :/, good catch! I figured that if they are scamming then the "best offer" auto accept would probably be set to $1 just to get everything they can, I tried offering $5 but it gave me an error saying they don't ship to my country.

Ah well, I feel bad for the people who bought the 47 drives that got sold.

Heck, maybe there's someone here quietly taking one for the team! :p
