Going to building a new AIO ESXi box for home to play around with and to also have all my home storage. Was going to go with an E3 V3 xeon but then saw the cheap prices on C32 socket opteron EE processors that have a TDP of 35w which had me start to consider them. Does anyone know what the idle power draw of a 4162 or 4164 opteron EE is?

I do not know. One thing to remember is that the Opteron 4100 series is pretty old architecture wise so more like a Core 2 Duo from Intel. They have both northbridge and southbridge chips so you probably need to compare CPU + NB idle or look at similar platform numbers to figure this out.

I would bet power consumption is higher and performance is lower than an Atom C2750.
