@Nicolas,

Technically the Windmill v2 is a specification, not a specific machine. Quanta and Wiwynn each manufactured machines that conformed to the Windmill v2 spec, the Quanta Rackgo X F03C and Wiwynn SV7210.

Facebook server Intel Xeon motherboard v2 (aka Windmill): http://files.opencompute.org/oc/public.php?service=files&t=935ae31805d3e7a120bf5b0d08db819c&download
Quanta Rackgo X F03C (aka Penguin Computing Relion OCP2830) manual: https://www.penguincomputing.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/rOCP2830_manual.pdf
Wiwynn SV7220-2 manual: http://www.wiwynn.com/usr_files/20140917134817_SV7220-2_User_Guide_V1.3.pdf

Note: The above Wiwynn link is actually for the SV7220, not the SV7210. I am unsure what the differences between the two models are.

Hi,
Can anybody help me with the backplane fans?
My fans never reach its full speed despite CPUs overheating while barely being under full load.
I see some jumpers on the backplane, some even mention fans... There should be a way to make fans more agressive, or to set on manual control...

Does anyone have any ideas?

And thanks in advance!

Has anyone experienced a problem where you cannot enter the bios setup?
The motherboard posts, and the AMI BIOS logo appears. There are 3 options presented. One of them says:
"Press DEL or F2 to enter the setup"
I tried pressing all the keys and key combinations possible, and still can't enter the setup. Miraculously if I press Ctrl+Alt+Del the system restarts itself. So the keyboard is working but the board just won't enter the BIOS setup. I tried two different keyboards, and both USB ports.

PLS help!!

Hi guys -

Does anyone have an M.2 NVME (or SATA) drive working with a PCI-E adapter card in an Quanta Open Compute Windmill-type server?

I would think it would be a great way to expand and add fast storage using one of the PCI-E slots. I realize that booting from the NVME drive will probably not be possible but you can use the existing SATA for that.

I have an HBA connected to a JBOD unit with SATA disks if that's what you're asking. No NVME though.

To clarify:

I SO want this to work, but I am not sure it will. That's why I am looking for someone who might already have tried this.
I did not test it myselft, but according to videos and the thread PCIE slot not only functional, but also supports bifurcation (originally has riser with 3 pci-e 16x physical), so you can use 4x NVME cards at full speed. Asus, Asrock, Dell and HP make these. Cost less than 100 bucks, with Samsung drives you can get up to 10 GigaBytes/s reads(in raid 0). Boot can be done from USB stick.

Hi All
I bot 3pcs MB F03. It working fine, but I have some questions:
1. I am read in manual about KVM. KVM over IP have default IP 192.168.1.2 and if vlan 192.168.x.x and dhcp enable. I am PowerON and I see on dhcp server I have IP on it MB (10...199, OS after start have ip 10...198 ). I have ping to it ip but when I try connect via browser I do not have connect and nmap say - no open ports. I try it with default IP and I do not have ping.
Are you using IPMI with it MB?

Which manufacturer and version do you have? Quanta or Wywinn? I may have a copy of the quanta and wywinn somewhere as i have both.
