Hi Gea,
As promised the results of my test of Omnios yesterday evening.
I started with downloading the omnios iso (347MB) and burning a cd.
Then pulled it in my test server (hp microserver n36l with 8GB, serveraid m1015 in it-mode + 2 Seagate barracuda Green 2TB disks, 8Gb sandisk usb stick).
Installation was very easy: i chose to install omnios on the usb stick.
Everything went smoothly.
After the installation i logged in with root and blanco password.
Had to activate the pimary nic and set ip/subnetmask/default gateway/nameserver.
After that i triggered your installer script.
The script started and most steps went well.
I only think there's a problem with bonnie and/or gcc.
After the installation i could not connect to the host at
http://hostip:81.
I could connect to
http://hostip:3000 (a kind of status page of the system).
This was my first solaris experience: i was very pleased with the stability and ease of installation of omnios.
I also like the fact that the default install is lean and mean: this is very ok from a security standpoint.
Maybe when you or another forum user has the time to find out what goes wrong....
My limited solaris knowledge hold me back.
Best regards,
dirk adamsky
