So as some of you have saw, I received new storage hardware.

I wanted to play around with Omni & Napp-it, but I'm having tremendous issues even getting Omni installed.

I was lead to believe my reboot issue was caused by USB3.0 on the board, but I've made sure every single USB3.0 feature/BIOS option is set to ONLY use USB2.0.

Here is what happens:

- I boot from my Sandisk USB

- OmniOS splash screen loads

- A few lines of text go by, including "mp_startup_common"

- Finally, warning stack not written to the dump and a reboot follows.

Can you add infos about your mainboard.

Boards with USB3 XHCI controller are not yet supported by Illumos based system (driver is on the way). Some boards do not offer additionally older USB 1/2 chipsets. In such a case, you can only install from Sata CD/DVD or you can use my system clone ex via CloneZilla.

SuperMicro X11 (S1151) is an example for such a behaviour

Supermicro X10DRW-iT which is a C612.

I've tried installing via IPMI & Virtual Media, same issue occurs. I've disabled every form of USB3.0 support in the BIOS.

Solved!

It was recommended by someone in the mailing list of OmniOS to reset BIOS to optimized defaults, works perfectly now.
