It is relatively old chassis with sas2 expander as opposed to new sas3 one but looks like prices are dropping as the chia mania is over. This could be an OK deal if you need a big server to host many VMs and File Server. It also comes with a sas3 AOC-S3008L-L8e HBA external card.

Listing says MB does not support V2 cpus, I am not sure why this is the case.

oh man from the title I thought it was going to be full of 96GB hard drives, and that would just be a waste of shipping weight.

Chassis is worth $250-$350. PSUs are far too loud, and not worth more than $20 total (doubt you could ever sale them). CPUs are like $10 each. DDR3, while sounding large, could just be 1066 or even 800mhz ram - as these CPUs general only support 1066 or sometimes 1333.

Nah, the only things worth while here are the chassis and HBA. Would not go more than $450, tops. Maybe $500 if I was desperate.

Agree.

These were probably cobbled together from parts on hand.

Fixed the title.

And yeah, this is not a great or good deal. Reasonably priced 846/847 full chassis were hard to come by for a while. My guess is that this is just the original version since MB and Chassis are from the same era.
