I have tried OI and both OmniOS with Napp-it, everything seems to be working okay but what's concerning me is that every time I check the drive status the Soft error count goes up?.

It's not linked to one drive as the Soft error rate goes up on all the drives at the same rate.

I have 2 pools, 1x Mirror with 2x HP Enterprise SATA drives and 1x RAIDz2 with 6x 5K3000's.

Anything connected to the motherboard, i.e. CDROM, SSD does not show any soft errors.

I'm at a loss to know how to stop this.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I am just experiencing this. Should I try to avoid bring up the drive status as I am now up to 3 soft errors. I take it that it is not setting flags on the drive. For example, if I was to reinstall omnios and napp-it would it go back to zero?

Just ignore the soft-error counter when using smartmontools.
Have you tried a reboot if these iostat counters resets to zero?

lol...I feel like an idiot as a reboot cleared all the soft errors. I will just ignore it.

The ESXi/OmniOS/Napp-it setup works so well!

thanks for this thread and posts everyone! I just installed OmniOS with Napp-It directly on a C6100 node and started getting this

good thing I defaulted to checking Google's ServeTheHome result, first; before losing a lot of time reading all the other results
