Today, I discovered that silicon power has made a 2230 ssd with m.2 e-key interface (the one generally used for wifi).
I don't know if this specific device has much market aside from the people on this forum.

Also looking for it, but not seeing it being sold anywhere.

An alternative is the Cervoz T425, but that isn't being sold outside the EU...

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I’m hoping someone at SP sees this thread (even if it appears to have little interest) that there is an aftermarket for these kinds of solutions. Personally, I’d like to have one for my thin clients that I want to repurpose the NVMe slot for something else.

Unfortunate it sounds like they’re targeting SIs/OEMs but, heres hoping they might release it for retail eventually…

Unfortunately, I don't think these E-key native SSDs are worth it. It's much cheaper to get an adaptor (like this) and use a regular M-Keyed 2230 SSD.

Agreed.

There are some Thin Clients (like Dell Wyse 3040) though, that probably won't fit an adapter if you want to close the case again.

Managed to buy an A+E key SSD from Advantech (SQF-C3AV1-*) ; many variations are readily available for purchase and shipping worldwide.

Installed Truenas CE and booted via the A+E M.2 slot.

What's interesting about that SSD is it's capable of using x2 lanes from the A+E slot. I was aware that the A+E spec allowed for x2 lanes but from the Coral dual TPU's spec, I had the impression that x2, if implemented, would be bifurcated (two x1 lanes).
