Hi guys.

I'm wondering whether the H8DGi-F board (2014) I own can support NVMe drives if I add a PCI-E card.

Supermicro's support site has nothing on this subject.

I tried a generic PCI-e NVMe card with a consumer grade Samsung M.2 drive and it was not detected.

The cheapest option seems to be the Supermicro AOC-SLG3-2M2 but I'd hate to spend the money if the BIOS does not support NVMe.

Thanks.

There are no special requirements for adding NVMe drives as they are just PCIe devices. If you wish to boot off it, that's not happening. You'll need something newer than the 10+ year old G34 platform.

there are cheap (~$15-$20) dual cards. where there is an NVMe slot on the card and a Sata port for a SATA SSD in m.2
